What to expect

Japan’s first yokai museum opens in Miyoshi, Hiroshima In addition to the ‘Ino Mononoke Roku’ Yokai Story, a yokai folktale set in Miyoshi, the exhibit features yokai-related materials carefully selected from approximately 5,000 items, including picture scrolls, colored woodblock prints, pottery and toys. These items were donated by Mr. Yumoto Koichi, a folklorist and yokai researcher, and are highly regarded as one of Japan’s largest collections of yokai-related artifacts.

Speical Exhibition “Yokai Ukiyo-e Artists”

A large collection of masterpiece yokai (supernatural creatures) ukiyo-e prints by renowned artists of the era, including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. Explore the Edo-period yokai boom through the vibrant works of these celebrated ukiyo-e masters. [Exhibition Period] June 27-November 18, 2025
